An angry storm whips the Straits of Florida. The Year is 1528, and the crew of the galleon, Fuerza de Dios, are engaged in a fierce battle with the soldiers of Hell - called forth by the very man who was to provide them with God's protection and blessings. In present time a similar, although much more subtle, battle of good and evil has also begun. Entwining a triangle of unknowing lovers who holiday in the Florida Keys, it is about to consume the man who is the direct descendent of Eduardo Protegera, captain of the doomed Fuerza de Dios.

Husband and wife, Tony and Clare, have brought their close friend, Nerissa, on holiday with them. Two of them are lovers. One plans the untimely demise of the third. The other acquiesces reluctantly, and a diving expedition to an ancient shipwreck is secretly designated as the killing field.

Padre de Bogado was just a man...with evil tastes. His compulsion to solve the mysteries of the ancient manuscript was a hot, burning secret he laid with every night. The ship to the New World presented him with the time to find the answers...and bring a culmination to the exquisite tortures he so fiercely desired. How could he have known of the fate he called upon the men of the Fuerza de Dios...or did he knowingly embrace their sacrifice when he called the demons. Captain Protegera proves the only one capable of stopping the actions of Hell itself. But it is only an etemity in frozen battle with Evil, while both wait for help from a distant future.

The three divers discover the submerged hulk of the chain-wrapped ship as the ancient maps promised. And it is here that the lovers, Nerissa and Clare, choose to kill Tony. But as the knife is raised and the struggle commences, a hand from Hell reaches from the wreckage and wrenches the three divers into a hideous limbo where a much more desperate battle has resumed. There, Tony is stunned by the presence of his ancestor, who entreats him to aid in the destruction of the ship. Meanwhile, the demon hopes to enlist the aid of the two women. Unfortunately, they are ineffective in their shock, and grisly punishments are doled out. Meanwhile, Tony and Eduardo manage to achieve the massive explosion they need to destroy the ship. Although it appears they have won, and Tony bursts from the surface ofthe ocean free of the past and the battle, Hell is not to be denied, and send one last chain to try and hook the soul that almost got away.
