This magazine featured news and interviews specifically about the trading card market. It coveres all types of non-sports trading cards. The feature I wrote for this issue of Cards Illustrated was a step-by-step description of the way my husband, artist David Dorman, does a trading card painting. His artwork of his character, Iguana, graced the cover but the article described the creation of another of his character cards, Jack Hammer.

Dave Dorman has carved a prominent place for himself in the fantasy art market with his richly textured, dynamic paintings. His work spans thirteen years, and appears in markets as diverse as comics, movies, toys and book publishing. His solid, enthusiastic fan following is no surprise when you take a look at the amazing work this talented artist produces, and the way in which he realizes imaginary characters and events.

One of the most enigmatic things about Dorman's work is his technique. Many artists and fans are convinced the Dorman's renderings are accomplished in acrylics. Most express doubt and surprise when they learn he works almost exclusively in oils. But this self-taught talent has developed a painting technique that beautifully compliments his vivid imagination and detailed pencil renderings.
