New Fun was published in 1935, and was the first comic book to contain original comic book material.

10-d: Frank "Daredevil" Miller's book, The Dark Knight, was the first painted, full-color, square bound comic book, called Prestige Format by publisher DC Comics, and then by the comic industry. It was a startling success, and propelled Miller to superstar status in comics.
